Hamilton Elementary is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve in a dual-role position as a Special Education Paraprofessional and Administrative Assistant to the principal and special education director. This role combines direct student support with essential clerical responsibilities. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure a well-organized and effective learning environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate’s degree or higher preferred
- Passed the Paraprofessional Examination or hold a valid substitute teaching certificate
- Experience working with children, particularly in an educational or special education setting, preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail
Paraprofessional Duties:
- Provide instructional and behavioral support to students receiving special education services
- Assist with implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Support students in both general and special education classroom settings
- Monitor student progress and assist with accommodations and modifications
Secretary Duties:
- Assist with all student record keeping and special education documentation by maintaining student files in compliance with confidentiality and legal requirements
- Ability to manage the Student Information System for the Elementary School
- Schedule meetings, including IEP conferences and evaluations
- Oversee substitute teacher coordination and daily coverage needs
- Communicate with staff and families as needed: respond to general inquiries
